새선생 크/리/스.티/안.. 그닥 감동적이진 않은 수업이지만 지루하지 않게 가르친다.

A: So what did you do last night?

   B: Not much, I was just pigging out on nuts and watching a movie. : pigging out, 뭔가 음식을 마음껏/충분히 먹다.

전치사 on에 주목할 필요가 있다. 

  cf. You eat like a pig  > 부정적 뉘앙스, 싸우자는 소리와 같다.


* I love popcorn but i don't like it when the pieces gets stuck in my teeth


* I like to eat my food slowly to savor/savour the flavor. 맛을 확실히 음미/만끽하다... 


* There was a great restaurant at the airport but i didn't have enough time to eat :(  It was such a pity


* Lots of people like to pig out on spicy food because it helps people get rid of stress. (△) get rid of는 stress에 쓰이기에 별로..

  relieve stress 가 더 낫다.


* I like popcorn but i don't buy it at the cinema, it's a rip off ! 바가지다.! 라는 듯 (a 빼먹지말고)

   rip off _ 뜯어내다, 훔치다. 빼앗다. 빨리끝내다. 정도의 의미. 돈을 채가는 느낌을 생각하며 : 바가지!

Rip off those stickers! 스티커 떼어내! 도 가능하며 This is simply a rip off! 이거 바가지야! 도 가능하고


* Normally I can manage to walk up 18 flight of stairs but yesterday I wasn't feeling very well 

  so I could only manage 2 (flight of stairs) and then I had to take the elevator.

 Manage to : 가까스로 최대한의 노력으로 해내다. 

 flight of stairs : 계단 1세트.


* When I was younger I could manage to go out with my friends every night but these days I can only manage 1 night out

  and then I'm too tired to go out again the next day.


* I like to pig out on chocolate/choccies


+ How did you lose your weight?   weight, health 등 단어에 'your, my' 같은 소유격 붙이지 않는다.

* He's trying to learn 3 languages at once!

  - Really,, I think he's bitten off more than he can chew this time. : 씹을 수 있는것보다 많이 씹었다. 과한 일


* It is in over my head : 위와 유사표현. 개인의 능력치를 넘어선 상태를 말함


* Learning 500 words isn't easy but learning 5 (everyday) is a cinch

  It's a cinch : 식은 죽 먹기지~

  It's a piece of cake

  It's walk in the park

  It's no sweat.

  It's easy peasy (lemon squeezy) < used when speaking to children


* I was learning English AND Japanese but in the end I gave up on (learning) Japanese.

 (동등한 두개를 언급할때 capital로 and를 적곤 한다)

 - give up on + something

 

*When i was a kid, I wanted to be a chef (when i grow up_다 커서인줄 알기때문에) 

 but I'm not very good in the kitchen/garden so I gave up on my dream. : Good in the + something


* I think baking cakes using ready-made mixture (=믹스) is a cinch but baking one from scratch would be really hard.

 -from scratch : from the very first step. _ 목수가 가구를 만들기위해 원목에 마킹하는 작업부터를 의미


* Even deciding on a subject for a PhD is hard.  : Decide + on   (on 을 잊지말자 )


* They saw my 태극기 on my backpack and they recognized realized I was Korean. 

 because they recognised the flag.

 - recognize : 알고있는 무언가를 식별해 내는것

 - realize : 모르는 사실에 대해서 알게 되는것.
